# WE62C TCP Converter V.1.0

## Introduction

In Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), **protocol conversion is the backbone of system integration**. Most field devices such as energy meters, temperature controllers, and PLC-based instruments communicate using **Modbus RTU over RS485**, while higher-level systems like **SCADA, cloud platforms, and monitoring servers typically use Modbus TCP over Ethernet or IP networks**.

This mismatch creates a communication gap — and that’s where protocol conversion becomes essential.

The most common requirement in industrial automation is **Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP conversion**, especially when legacy Modbus RTU devices need to be integrated into Ethernet-based or cloud-connected systems. In practical deployments, two types of conversion are typically required:

* **Modbus RTU → Modbus TCP** (Field device to SCADA/Cloud)
* **Modbus TCP → Modbus RTU** (SCADA/Server to field devices)
